Course Description:

Life is difficult to navigate among the distractions of materialism and self-comparison with those around us. This course will create a preliminary understanding of how perfectionism and comparison can be a strength but mostly lead towards self-sabotage. Exercises leading towards self-discovery and self-actualization are implemented and encouraged to be used in approaching the future journey with a lighter step in life, greater gratitude and self-satisfaction. Information on how living authentically reduces burn out and creates a happier life is given out. Discussion about passion, perception, and mindset will be front and center. All information is presented on a substantive evidence based scientific research. Communication, collaboration and openness are encouraged and facilitated among the participants with break out sessions.  Break out session includes of discovering core value systems, discovering life’s the non-negotiable, reducing life’s missed moments of joy and making a plan to encourage and initiate change.  the end of the lecture a commitment is created into leading a life as who we are, at the core, one that is worth waking up for in the morning, every morning.

Course Objectives:
  • To discuss burnout, understand and to self-identify possible causes of burnout
  • To discuss how comparison and storytelling negatively impact self-image
  • To understand how passion, perception, and mindset are of utmost importance in authenticity.

About The Speaker

Dr. Maggie augustyn

“Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise.  Dream more than others think is practical.  Expect more than others think is possible.”  -Claude Thomas Bissell

“In my book, life is about people. It’s about connecting with people, about making the effort to create relationships. And for that reason, for those people, each day I wake up, I try to be a better person than yesterday. I focus on growing as human being, a person as well as a provider. I encourage and support those around me to do the same. Growth and change is difficult and sometimes uncomfortable but it’s often worth the effort. The most important role in my life is that of a mother and wife. Though not always in perfect concert with that statement, I live my life honoring those roles. As far as dentistry is concerned: thought having faced many cycles of burnout, I’ve been very lucky. It has been said that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life… well…when I’m inside the mouth… I’m certainly not working”

About The Speaker

Dr. Nada Albatish

Dr. Nada Albatish owns and operates a multidisciplinary practice, All Smiles Dental Centre, just north of Toronto. As a passionate learner, she first completed a GPR, followed by hundreds of hours of CE each year. She is a fact finder – always researching, looking for evidence, and understanding the whys of what we do in practice as dentists.

Nada started her current practice from scratch as a solo practitioner and quickly realized she needed a strong support team as well as a team of skilled doctors in multiple specialties to help her achieve her goals as a comprehensive dentist. Today, Nada’s niche is complex and rehabilitative dentistry, supported by a team of 30, including general practitioners and specialists.

Nada is honored to serve as Faculty for Clinical Mastery Series, curator for Restorative Nation, co-author a book, write articles, and speak at various dental events. Nada is inspired by helping dentists to achieve excellence, predictability, and confidence in their craft. She is committed to the success of her patients, colleagues, and the advancement of the dental profession at large.

As a mother to two beautiful girls, Nada is blessed every day to be able to see the world through the eyes of her little people. In her free time, which she has learned to intentionally create on a weekly basis, she loves to exercise, eat good food, and spend time with her girls doing absolutely nothing except living in the moments. During the 20% of the year that Toronto has good weather, she finds peace in water sports, especially paddle boarding on the lake under the sun. The rest of the year she creates the same feeling by traveling!
