Diagnosing Parafunction and other uses of an anterior bite plane

EARN 1.0 CE CREDITS

Patients are clenching more these days, with the uncertainty of COVID and the associated changes at work and home and school.  In this course we will present the Parafunction Risk Rating Protocol – which is a low-cost diagnostic program using a temporary anterior bite plane overnight for 2-4 weeks, to enable your patients to experience the benefits of splint therapy and to record brux marks, if any. This simple grading system is used to diagnose and monitor the severity of a patient’s active bruxism and improves their understanding of your recommended treatment options. Other clinical applications of temporary oral appliances will also be highlighted.

Objectives:
  1. Identify risk factors for parafunction
  2. Learn new tools for engaging patients in their parafunction
  3. Identify clinical applications for trial splint therapy
