Dr. Chris Steven Villanueva, affectionately known as Dr. V, earned his DMD from Nova Southeastern University in Florida in 2004. Upon graduation, Dr. V did what any smart, young graduate would do – drove 16 hours overnight to Dallas, TX chasing a girl (now his lovely wife and mother of his four children, Carol).
Dr. V spent the next few years working at various DSOs and private practices, recognizing the benefits and challenges of each. In 2007, unwilling to settle for either option, his eccentric “out of the box” thinking lead to the creation of one of the most progressive and fast growing dental platforms in the country.
Dr. Villanueva is the founder and CEO of MB2 Dental—the original Dental Partnership Organization (DPO) with a mission to empower dentists to preserve their profession. Since its founding in 2007, MB2 has partnered with hundreds of dentists to help them stay in the driver’s seat as they maximize their talents, connect as part of a community and build exceptional wealth.
Through his leadership, Dr. V and his partners have grown MB2 to over 200 doctor partners in 25 states and counting, making MB2 the largest doctor-owned DPO.
In 2017, Dr. V and his dental colleagues successfully partnered with private equity firm, Sentinel Capital Partners; a transaction that allowed every one of the, then 37 dentist partners, to take advantage of the enterprise value, an opportunity unheard of in the dental industry. This past January, MB2 recapitalized for a second time, partnering with Charlesbank Capital Partners. Dr. V and 275 of his doctor partners once again participated in the transaction, and reinvested a substantial percentage of their equity. Dr. V continues to serve as CEO of MB2, a highly differentiated platform to not only operate dental practices, but also a first of-its-kind platform for dentists.
