Meet this week’s guest:
Back in the early 80’s, Dr. Tippett-Whyte’s undergraduate advisor cautioned her about getting her hopes up about being accepted to a Dental School. That warning only served to strengthen her commitment to not only be accepted to a dental school, but to excel in her dental school academics. Dr. Tippett is a member of the class of overachievers, 1986, and she is no exception. She graduated from Arthur A Dugoni School of Dentistry as the first woman valedictorian in the history of the school. Her commitment to her studies and the Dental Profession was instilled by the many incredible faculty members and by Dr. Arthur Dugoni, whose teachings and mentorship she took to heart.
After joining a practice in Stockton, CA, Dr. Tippett-Whyte set upon a career long journey of giving back to the profession. She has served on many boards, rising through the chairs to become President of the Dugoni Dental School Alumni Board, the San Joaquin Dental Society, and the California Dental Association. She has served on numerous councils and held positions of leadership at the local, state, and national level. Throughout her career she has mentored young students who expressed an interest in pursuing a career in Dentistry. Today, Dr. Tippett-Whyte continues to work with the leaders of CDA as Past President, is a delegate to the ADA house of Delegates and serves as the California representative to ADPAC.Dr. Tippett-Whyte not only has given back to the dental profession in countless ways, she still found time to be a member of many community organizations and never missed her boys’ sports games. She is a proud mom to 3 amazing sons: Alex, a Navy special Forces EOD Tech, Travis who has a PhD in quantum physics and is now working as a researcher and coder for the Julich Institute in Germany and the youngest Spencer who has a master in chemical engineering . She and Steve just celebrated 40 yrs of marriage last summer with a fabulous trip to France and are working toward retirement in beautiful Montana! They have 3 wonderful daughter-in-laws and excited to be members of the grandparents club with 3 darling grandchildren!
As she is starting to think of retirement, the thought of giving back to the profession remains a cornerstone of her love of, and the future of the Dental Profession.
