Dr. Setareh Lavasani

DDS, MS, FICD, FGDIA

Dr. Lavasani, a Board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, holds a Full-time Associate Professorship on Tenure Track at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, where she also leads as the Director of Oral Radiology and Advanced Imaging. An internationally recognized educator, her expertise spans CBCT imaging applications, diagnostic interpretation, digital imaging, and radiation safety. Dr. Lavasani has enriched numerous U.S. dental schools with her developed educational content and mini-residencies and, has played pivotal roles in CE events with the American Dental Association (ADA) and the California Dental Association (CDA). Her industry recognitions include being featured in Dentistry Today magazine’s “Leading Women in Dentistry” and being named among the CE Leaders in the United States in 2023, highlighting her commitment to dental education and leadership. Furthermore, she was listed in Incisal Edge Magazine’s “40 under 40” best dental specialists in 2019 and received WesternU’s “Distinguished Faculty Member Award” in the same year, underscoring her significant contributions and achievements in dentistry.”

Eva previously served at the San Diego District Attorney’s Office for 21 years and as the Vice President of Operations for the San Diego Better Business Bureau. She is a recognized leader in the field of identity compromise and crime, cybercrime, and fraud, who has been featured on CBS Mornings, NBC Nightly News, CNBC’s American Greed, Fortune, The New York Times, NPR, The Associated Press and numerous other media outlets. What's New in Noninvasive Dentistry

Course Description:

Modern caries management emphasizes minimal interventions, selective caries removal, and protecting the pulp dentin complex to preserve the natural dentition for as long as possible. This course will review early interventions and nonsurgical options for managing incipient caries lesions by arresting and remineralizing them. Dr. MacLean will review a new, minimally invasive restorative option which harnesses the natural power of papain, a proteolytic enzyme, to facilitate and enhance selective caries removal.

Dr. Jeanette MacLean

Dr. Jeanette MacLean is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, owner of Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists in Glendale, Arizona, and mother of two.  She received her dental degree, with honors, from the University of Southern California in 2003 and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry in 2005 at Sunrise Children’s Hospital through the University of Nevada School of Medicine.  Dr. MacLean has become an internationally recognized advocate and expert on minimally invasive dentistry, appearing in newspapers, magazines, television, and continuing education lectures on this hot topic.  Most notably, she was featured in the July 2016 New York Times article “A Cavity Fighting Liquid Helps Kids Avoid Dentists’ Drills,” which brought national attention to the option of treating cavities non-invasively with silver diamine fluoride.

Dr. Steve Yun, M.D.

Diplomate, American Board of Anesthesiology

Dr. Yun is a board-certified anesthesiologist who specializes in dental office anesthesia. He obtained his M.D. with honors from the University of Southern California and completed his post-graduate training at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences. He is a Clinical Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences, and an Expert Consultant and Examiner for the Dental Board of California. He is also a Safety Inspector for the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF).

He is a Medical Advisory Board member for Healthfirst, the leading provider of emergency medical supplies for dental offices in North America, and a medical consultant for DOCS Education. He is also Co-Course Director for Boston Children’s Hospital’s annual conference, Pediatric Sedation Outside the O.R.

He has extensive clinical research experience and as a popular speaker, gives numerous lectures across the country and internationally on patient safety issues.
