About The Speaker
Ally Tompkins
Ally Tompkins is a private practice therapist and mental health expert specializing in the complex relationship between self-image, stress, and the demands of modern life. Ally works with adult clients in Illinois and Indiana, where she approaches her work with empathy, curiosity, and a strong clinical foundation. Prior to owning her private practice, Ally served as the clinical manager of a 30-bed treatment center in Chicago, where she led a large multidisciplinary team and oversaw all daily operations and programming for the facility.
Her clinical work is uniquely informed by her previous career as a journalist and Research Director for a Chicago-based business magazine. Having spent years reporting on corporate culture and workplace trends, Ally has a deep, firsthand understanding of the environments her clients navigate daily. This allows her to bridge the gap between mental wellness and the practical realities of professional life—from mastering effective communication to managing the pressures of a high-stakes career.
Ally recently relocated from Chicago to the nearby suburbs with her husband, their two young kids, and the world’s most tolerant cat, Rosie.

Fast Answers, Faster Lawsuits: Guardrails, Policies, and Protection for AI Use in Small Dental Practices
Course Description:
This course revisits the basics of why legally compliant HR policies and practices are the foundation owners and managers need to keep their practice out of trouble, while also serving as practical management tools that reduce day-to-day people problems. It also explains why public-facing AI tools don’t serve dental practices well in HR, and how relying on confident-sounding AI guidance can create serious compliance gaps, employee escalations, and real legal exposure.
Course Objectives:
- Use workplace policies strategically to improve management consistency, reduce recurring people problems, and strengthen organizational protection in the event of complaints, investigations, or legal scrutiny.
- Identify the risks of using public AI for HR-related decisions in dental practices, including inaccurate guidance, incomplete compliance information, and legally sensitive situations where AI should never be relied upon.
- Establish practical guardrails for responsible AI use in the workplace, including how to evaluate “safe AI,” set employee expectations, and respond when AI-generated HR misinformation creates workplace challenges.
