One Big Beautiful Bill… and the Not-So-Obvious Decisions Dentists Must Make Now

Course Description:

The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) introduces major updates that affect how dentists build, protect, and transition their wealth. Many practice owners and associates haven’t had the time or background to unpack these changes, yet the decisions they make now have a big impact on their long-term financial plan.

In this session, CPA Angie Svitak breaks down the OBBB in a clear, practical way and explains what these updates mean for your tax strategy, estate plan, and key financial
decisions.

When AI Sounds Confident but Gets HR Completely Wrong: Guardrails, Policies, and Protection for Dental Practices

Course Description:

This course revisits the basics of why legally compliant HR policies and practices are the foundation owners and managers need to keep their practice out of trouble—while also serving as practical management tools that reduce day-to-day people problems. It also explains why public-facing AI tools don’t serve dental practices well in HR, and how relying on confident-sounding AI guidance can create serious compliance gaps, employee escalations, and real legal exposure.

Public AI tools often produce answers that sound authoritative but rely on outdated information, omit legally required steps, and vary depending on how the question is asked. In HR, that can quickly become a liability—especially in areas such as corrective action, leave and accommodations, wage-and-hour issues, and terminations. Employees are also using AI and bringing misinformation into the workplace, which can increase conflict and derail otherwise manageable situations.

We’ll place special emphasis on policies as protection: clear expectations and consistent practices help investigators evaluate decisions fairly and make it harder for opportunistic claims to gain traction. We’ll also talk plainly about the “manager time tax”—how much time people issues steal from patient care and leadership—and how strong policies and simple guardrails reduce repeat problems and constant case-by-case chaos.

Finally, we’ll compare today’s risky public AI with what “safe AI” developed and used by subject matter experts looks like—so you can tell the difference between tools that create risk and systems that actually support compliant decision-making.
